Just finished a graphite on watercolor paper entitled:  Hands On Training.  It’s a tribute of sorts to Philip Evergood’s social realist paintings of factory workers.

  1. I used a surrealist technique of searching for images in clouds and smudges of graphite. The rough texture of the paper presented difficulties (tonal blending) and opportunities (using the rough surface to reference the distressed surfaces of daguerreotypes).
